Akiko Iwasaki received her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto (Canada) in 1998, and her postdoctoral training from the National Institutes of Health (USA)(1998-2000). She joined Yale University (USA) as a faculty member in 2000, and, currently, she is Waldemar Von Zedtwitz Professor at the Department of Immunobiology, at the Department of Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology and Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Akiko Iwasaki’s research focuses on the mechanisms of immune defense against viruses at the mucosal surfaces. Her laboratory is interested in how innate recognition of viral infections leads to the generation of adaptive immunity, and how adaptive immunity mediates protection against subsequent viral challenge.

She was named Pew Latin American Fellow and obtained postdoctoral at Beth Israel Hospital at the Harvard Medical School. Dra. Bozza is Senior Researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, and member of Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC). Her research group focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the inflammatory and metabolic responses in infections, as well as the role of inflammatory processes on lipids metabolism in obesity and cancer.

Associate professor at the Department of Clinical and Toxicological Analysis at the School of Pharmacology Sciences of the University of São Paulo (FCF-USP). He became an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology at Emory University in 2011, where he uses systems biology to predict and understand the immune response to different vaccines. Prof. Nakaya graduated in biology at the University of São Paulo and holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the Department of Biochemistry at Chemistry Institute of the University of São Paulo (IQ-USP). His doctorate focused on the area of ​​Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics. From 2008 to 2011, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Emory University, Atlanta (USA). He is an affiliated member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, consultant for CEPI (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations) and member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the European Ebola vaccine consortium. His researches focus on the mechanism of action of vaccines in cells of the immune system using techniques on a large scale.

She is currently a Professor at  the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) Immunopathology Laboratory. He has experience in immunopharmacology and immunoregulation, working mostly on the mechanisms of creating and searching for new therapeutic targets for the sepsis and autoimmune diseases treatment.

Dr. Fernando Lopes received his Ph.D. in Cell Biology at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil, studying the role of neutrophil-derived reactive oxygen species in the resolution of inflammation in a model of rheumatoid arthritis. He performed a postdoctoral training at the University of Calgary under the supervision of Dr. Derek McKay, where he specialized in helminth-host immunological crosstalk in chronic inflammatory gastrointestinal diseases and arthritis. He is an assistant professor at the Institute of Parasitology at the McGill University, in Canada, where he explores the role of helminth components in modulating the immunometabolism of immune cells to promote inflammation resolution in inflammatory diseases. Prof. Lopes also focuses on characterizing the metabolic requirements of myeloid cells during transmigration to inflammatory loci.

Dr.  Lirlândia (Landa) Sousa  graduated in Pharmacy-Biochemistry at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (1995), Received his Master's (1998) and PhD  degree in Microbiology by the  the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2003).  Later she was a  postdoctoral  fellow at the Immunopharmacology Lab.- Dep. Biochemistry and Immunology-ICB-UFMG from 2004-2007. During 2017-2018, Dr. Sousa was visiting professor at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology in the lab of prof Lindsey Miles in The Scripps Research Institute-San Diego.

Currently, Dr. Landa Sousa is an  Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy at UFMG where she supervises Graduate and post-graduates students at the Post-Graduate  Programs in Clinical and Toxicological Analysis and Pharmaceuticals Sciences, both from the same university. Her main Research interests are studying the Interface between the fibrinolytic system and  resolution of inflammation; comprehension of the inflammatory response and its resolution in infectious processes; Studying the intracellular signaling pathways in inflammatory processes; and inflammation markers in human diseases.

Prof. Perretti received his bachelor's degree in medical chemistry in 1985, and his master's degree in pharmacology and toxicology in 1988 at the University of Florence in Italy. His PhD was developed in 1996, and he received the title of Professor of Immunopharmacology in 2001 at the University of London. In 2006 he assumed the position of Executive Secretary at the William Harvey Research Institute, who became Director in 2013. In 1998 he received the Cattlin Prize, awarded by the British Society of Pharmacology for his Extraordinary Research in Immunopharmacology. He is a member of the British Society of Pharmacology, the Society of Biology (UK) and the European Academy.

Dra.
